Surviving the holidays

I don't know about everyone else, but this week has been an adventure and not the kind that I want to go on again! Trying the keep the kids focused and caring about class discussions have been very challenging. The last two days before our holiday break, I plan to review all I can. I know new material will go in one ear and out the other and if the review is not for a grade, the students will not complete it.

    Same here...prior to the break, my team does an activity the 12 days of Christmas. Students have to calculate the cost of all of the gifts for each day. It is a good review of order of operations and computation skills. They always seem to enjoy it.

    If you google 12 days of Christmas math activities, you'll see a plethora of mind-engaging ways to keep you smiling all the way through the days leading to winter break. I've been the Rutgers/Leadership web site for years.
